I’m an engineer like you, and wanted to make a comment on your speaking style. I think you could make better contact with your audience by looking at them. I used to do the same thing, and then joined a public speaking club, and they corrected me. Please don’t take offense, just an engineer talking to another engineer… Mike

One interesting thing I noticed from this video…. if you would make a video of the audience, and you would take the sound out, and then ask some people in the street what this audience is doing,… they’ll probably say: Watching a tennis match.
What we do know is happening right now, because the stats keep coming in, is that in Australia more luxury items such as plasma televisions, and home furniture such as dining suites is actually increasing as people justify spending money at home instead of going out.
Paradoxically, the big blockbuster movies are pulling in more than ever.
Sales of some very expensive personal care items are going through the roof in some of the most economically depressed areas in the US.
There are definitely businesses that do very well in difficult economic times, and they’re not necessarily the ones you’d guess.
I predict internet marketing training will be one of those that will go even further through the roof than it has as people seek some way to claw back what they’ve lost, or protect themselves against uncertainty.
For most of them it will be the wrong move, but it won’t stop them from making it.

Perhaps you’ve heard of Robert Kiyosaki’s new book “Conspiracy of the Rich”? It’s free online for 2 more weeks.
Read some similar stuff from The Creature from Jekyle Island and How Money Works (Fed reserve bank), but Robert makes it easy to understand and talks about what caused this crises and what each person can do about it to come out a winner.
So the question is really… Did Perry know what was going to happen, or did Perry make it happen?

Honestly Jonathan, I don’t think anybody needed to be any kind of Nostradamus or genius to know this was going to happen. The media was SCREAMING recession – depression – sky is falling for most of 2008 prior to this happening. It was only a matter of time.

Perry: I do know about what’s going on in the financial system. That’s why I can say with a considerable measure of confidence that, the risk ahead, even to internet marketers, is huge. The task of even reaching a qualified target audience in all probability is set to grow exponentially over the next five years. That’s because the size of this audience is likely to dwindle. The need for a growing number of people to cut corners might become rather overwhelming to say the least.
Of course, nothing is set in stone. However the probability of some “earthquake” shaking to the core the world as we know it is, in fact, incredibly elevated. It is not every century a Treasury Secretary hands Congress 3 pages of paper asking the taxpayer to cough up $700 billion. Nor, is it every decade a Congressman publicly charges the head of the Federal Reserve with criminal activity. These are extraordinary times, indeed. Brace for the worst.
People hear stories about how bad it was during the Depression. Few, though, scarcely imagine what it must have been like. Not to say what’s likely coming will be the same. But the challenges could be equally as great.
Chances are the best — the BEST — most (95%) marketers will do is tread water. Yes, some will thrive, too. However, the ease with which many in the recent past have been able to succeed will likely be severely constrained.
There isn’t enough space here to raise the credibility of my authority in raising the fear I am expressing. Likewise, you would have to have a burning interest in my particular area of expertise to begin understanding truth about the risk we face. Most who might click through to my blog will not have the necessary interest to begin fathoming my expertise. Indeed, it doesn’t matter what you do for a living. That’s just the way it is.
Yet it is that element of expertise and authority most likely to survive in the coming Great Calamity. Thus, I believe those who are interested in the expertise you provide ought look within themselves and seek the same within themselves if they wish to pursue internet marketing. Absent expertise — something making the marketer much more than a “me too,” dime a dozen commodity — the rate of success of most internet marketers is likely to shrink markedly over the coming period.
Forgive me for being a downer. I believe forewarned is forearmed.

I don’t doubt that you could be correct. What I can say is: Kaizen continuous improvement earns its own kind of interest and most marketers don’t do it. By that I mean, serious testing and tracking and incremental improvements. This is not a time to be asleep at the wheel.
