The Maui seminar kicks off Monday morning March 1 and I’m flying to Hawaii as you read this.

Our seminar was ready to go, and then…. Chile had an earthquake and Hawaii was suddenly threatened with IMMINENT DESTRUCTION.

My SEO guy, Donovan Kover, narrowly escaped to safety on the side of a volcano. He waited with baited breath as the deadly waters poised to strike him dead.

Then….

This Twitter Tweet from @Mayerinated says it all:

“OMG Hawaii just swallowed by a 1 1/2 foot tsunami wave! OMG everyone panic now! Run for your lives! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”

I asked my team: “OK, so if I re-name my event “Perry Marshall’s Tsunami Seminar” is it going to sound anti-climactic?

Everybody replied, “Hey you might as well ride the publicity, uh, wave.”

I like it. It’s sorta tongue-in-cheek. It’s not about the size of the Tsunami. It’s about the fact that the media INVENTS a Tsunami every dang day, to freeze you into inaction.

You know they make their money by having you scared and hypnotized in front of the TV, right? Totally flaccid.

(You might want to remember that they didn’t murmur a single word about the Tsunami that DID kill 200,000 people… just sayin’…)

Well anyway, if you want daily updates – maybe several times a day – come back to this page. I’d also love your thoughts, comments and questions below.

Enjoy the Tsunami Seminar!

Oh, and by the way – you can get the seminar streamed to your computer, and on DVD and MP3. Sign up now and get the most advanced Pay Per Click seminar EVER in the history of marketing:

Perry

P.S.: This seminar’s gonna be awesome. It will NOT be anti-climactic. Post your questions & comments below.

Oh my word, stop being a bunch of panzies. I live in Iowa. I've weathered tornados, floods, drought, fires and bad Government. You think Perry shouldn't make light of those things because I might have a cow? ? Come on people. Everyone, no matter where they live, no matter what their income or social status has gone thru bad times. Do we have to tippy toe around all these disasters forever ?
Don't FLOOD Perry with negative emails. Don't BLOW things out of proportion. DRY up and get it together. Don't get all HEATED UP over a newsletter.

"Now when I talk to God, I knew he'd understand.
He said stick by me and I'll be your guiding hand.
But don't ask me what I think of you.
I might not give you answers that you want me to.

Oh well..." Peter Green

Hey, Lighten UP, You guys...If you knew Perry and could READ, you'd see that the comment is in NO WAY disparaging the seriousness of either natural disasters, this Chile earthquake, or the subsequent tsunami's (big and small).

We ALL ache for Haiti, Chile, Southeast Asia, Darfur, etc. BUT unless we are productive (and getting even MORE productive) and caring enough to send HELP, what will all these poor people do?

It is, rather, a commentary on the inability of the media to SCALE their reporting to any reasonable level. As a famous person once said: "Just the FACTS, Ma'am" The media hype EVERYTHING to the MAX...and the result is "consumer fatigue" and as Perry said (a common theme of his) PARALYSIS.

The point as I read it is THIS: Everything Perry and his Maui Seminar teach is MEANINGLESS without ACTION by us. (A point I'm only now really appreciating fully, having delayed my web launch by 1.5 years since the Bobsled Run - to 'Get it PERFECT.'

I only wish I could have afforded to go (even DIGITALLY), but my delay for perfect (and hidden fears) have placed my finances in jeopardy right now. (Dang Lizard Brain! Google "Seth Godin" + "Lizard Brain" for a GREAT video on fear, delay, etc.)

BTW, the February Mastermind is a good listen, and I claim Perry's special "Prize" for the source of the comment "Does tend to EMERGE, doesn't it". Sounds to me like just the story of Ravi Zacharias with the Berkeley professor (a Buddhist) discussing "Either THIS, or THAT" at the dinner table. The Buddhist claiming "No absolutes of Right or Wrong" and Ravi demonstrating in a simple story that there really is a RIGHT way and a WRONG way. Therefore TRUTH IS discoverable.

Thanks for being concerned about the suffering people - Sri Lanka - and everywhere. We ALL are. And I would include Perry in that.

It is too bad NOAA can't somehow gauge the intensity of the wave compression in the water to better project the size of the oncoming tsunami. (At sea, deep water, there is no "height" to the tsunami to see)

Sorry, don't mean to seem preachy...or 'know-it-all'...just cuttin' Perry some slack. Hope you will too.

Bless you all, hope we get some GREAT tidbits from Maui here,

Jill,

This seems an awfully low standard -- where getting attention by any means is ok. I disagree, there is a line even marketers need to respect. And when you read something and wince, which I did at Perry's cavalier remarks in the face of the real, ongoing tragedy in Chile, that is just wrong.

Amazes me how some people can pick a grain of salt and so easily throw it someone else's eye. (Shame on you Haters)

Perry, I dont speak on behalf of all your loyal followers, but I think we understood your message. You were not poking fun at the loss of life, just making light of the situation in front of you.

Enjoy Hawaii.
