    Linda @ 9:33 am

I have a FB profile for myself and I want to set up a fanpage for my business. I would like to keep the two fairly separate – can I do this/should I do this.

Thanks for the video – love what you did,,, looking forward to the next one.

      Drew @ 1:19 pm

      Linda thanks for the comment.

This video should be up sometime late tomorrow so keep your eyes out for it.

      Peter Brissette @ 7:37 pm

There was some very fundamentally good information in this video! Information that is key to success on Facebook. There is no other platform out there that is like Facebook.

He clearly stated that this first video was about the 16,000 foot view!

As a marketer you have take some time and step back to understand what your moving into in order to keep from wasting your time and of course money!

      Good stuff!

Thanks for the great video, my biggest question is how to get more of likemind people to my view. everyone seem to be forever talking about themselves.

  7. June 26

    Kevin Thompson @ 9:44 am

    Hey Guys,

You’ve definitely caught my attention with this video.

I’ve got a new product that we’re offering for $1,191.00, and the initial testing of our sales model has gone REALLY well.

I want to start ramping things up as quick as possible, and use as many platforms as I can.

I don’t know the first thing about using Facebook, and would like to explore this option.

    But…

I can’t afford to invest a lot of my own time in learning all the ins and outs.

Is it unreasonable for me to think that I could hire someone, work with them on some level in order to educate myself so that I can at least make inteligent decisions, but let them handle things for the most part?

    Kevin

excellent insight. looking forward to the next video

  10. June 26

    Nancy - Loveland CO @ 9:46 am

Good video — I understand the concept… my biggest question is the payperclick structure of FaceBook accounts… do they allow ad split testing, is it easy to edit ads, change the demographics, etc… in other words are they comprable to Google in that regards, in a differetn way, obviously.?????

    • June 26

      Christina Mellott @ 9:31 pm

Sorry to break in here — I know I’m not Drew, but you should be able to split test in Facebook ads very easily. If you go into the create ad page, you can create 2 ads that go to the same market demographics. Put in the same bid and how much you’re willing to spend each day. And change the one thing that you want to test. Facebook tells you your cost per click and how many clicks you got each day for each ad. They also tell your your cost per impression (how many times the ad was shown).

  11. June 26

    Rick Cannone @ 9:48 am

Great and True Points. I have contemplated going this route on a venture related to philanthropy but you are right that it can be applied to other product areas. Thanks.

  12. June 26

    Lee Cusano @ 9:48 am

Can you run a successful social marketing program without having to constantly be social or hire it all out?

    -Lee

P.S. Because I saw this video through Perry Marshall’s e-mail I automatically see you guys as having a possibly incredible course for Facebook advertising.

  13. June 26

    Mari @ 9:48 am

How do I target the right audience on Facebook?

  14. June 26

    Joe Conroy @ 9:50 am

    Very Good Video…

Biggest Question: How do we target the audience within FB? If we sell dentures, how do we have our ads show up on an FB account for someone who is at least in the correct age group? Makes no sense having a denture ad show up on a 18-yr olds home page.

Second biggest question: Using the “tribe” marketing strategy, how do we re-structure the sales process funnel?

    -Establish Tribe / Community Connection
    -Interested
-Gathering Info (? Survey ? FB Network Votes?
    -Shopping (? convenience of transaction ? )
-Buy (? Support a larger cause, be apart of larger group who’s values you align with ?)

    Your video is thought-provoking…mind shifting.

    Thanks,

    Joe

  15. June 26

    Gabriel @ 9:52 am

Great video. Can’t wait for the next one. You want questions, here’s one: How do use FB to promote my business market locally?

  16. June 26

    Brian Marvin @ 9:52 am

Very interesting Vlogarticle… Keep them coming!

  17. June 26

    Josh Wilkins @ 9:56 am

Cool thoughts.. Waiting to hear more.

I guess my biggest question at this point would be if running a successful business is fundamentally about establishing and maintaining profitable customer relationships and Facebook is the largest social networking site by far.. Should Facebook be seen as an integral part of our business from the very start?

    Pablo Gonzalez @ 9:58 am

Great video! My question about Facebook PPC is:

“Do I have to have an item of value to give away in order to achieve an opt-in? In other words, would I need to give away free e-books, video, etc., to have my campaigns approved on Facebook PPC?”

Thanks for this awesome information. Looking forward to the next video.

I have FireFox but use Google Chrome as well. With Google Chrome, it sets up quick and just fine layout. Of course a new MacBook Pro might be part of the reason also.

  21. June 26

    Janet Wentworth @ 10:01 am

I hope you will address business-to-business marketing as well as B2C. Among friends and clients that I have surveyed, no one sees Facebook as a tool to reach business customers.

IS it possible to advertisr on facebook(now, andin the future when the competition greatly increase) without always having to monitor your ads and the results and the competition on facebook non stop?

The last thing i want is to become a “technician” in a never ending war that i always have to constantly worry about and that i monitor day in day out, every day, all of the time.

  24. June 26

    Jordan @ 10:05 am

My biggest question is how to find and target prospects when the hundreds of conventional keywords for my niche that show up in the Google keyword tool have absolutely no bearing on Facebook.

    David Chandler @ 10:15 am

    Great stuff….

We have a “profile” customer, but as I dig thru FB interests, I’m having a hard time indentifying this customer….how do you determine the psychographics of a client?

  29. June 26

    Sharon Connolly @ 10:16 am

Great Video, thanks very much. I loved the location changes – kept it really interesting. I’m really excited about facebook advertising and have been trying it out with some success.

I have two questions – language – is the default English US? I’m targetting UK Expats in Singapore, how sure can I be that they have actually chosen English UK a the correct language.

Next Question, when I target people with a particular interest or that belong to a group – is this an AND or OR query going on in the background. So for example if I choose poeple who like Jimmy Choos and Sex and the City – do they have to like both, or is it one or the other or both
    Thanks very much!

Do you have any proof that you have a good CTR on facebook ads (i think the good ctr in fb is >0,4%),in the US of course, and you have a cheap cpc, I want a proof of screenshot. Because I have spend my fb ads coupon and have CTR only 0.09% and $0,6 cpc, Thanks :-) .

Great intro video! Seems like women marketers should shine in the FaceBook marketing arena that you describe since women are naturally about relationships and connecting than many men are in this space. Can’t wait to watch the next one! Thank you, Drew.

  34. June 26

    paul gee @ 10:21 am

Thanks for the video – I look forward to viewing the next one. I am looking towards Facebook for future advertising so this could not have arrived at a better time. What intrigues me most is the comment you made about doing this without a website. Although I run several sites in different niches the idea of being able to avoid the building process (which is so time consuming) is uber appealing. Keep up the good work.

  35. June 26

    Jim Blatchley @ 10:22 am

Hi Drew, great video btw. I’m wondering if Facebook would work for me. I’m just trying to get buyers of commercial real estate to sign up for my buyer’s list. I have a partner with porperties available and a link to that website. I already took the eval quiz but I wanted to ask more specifically with regards to comm. real estate. We’re talking about buyers that would be capable of buying million dollar properties. Is Facebook something worth trying to market to? I’m also aware of real estate websites available for social networking, but they don’t have the audience that Facebook does.
    Thanks.

    Sunshine @ 10:28 am

    Fantastic video with great information.

I do see the value in connecting in the FB environment.

I don’t socialize online outside of the Internet Marketing community as I’m pretty paranoid about any real, genuine conversations with others being tagged and potentially used or viewed out of the context in which I may have expressed my thoughts.

Thus my main question or issue would be the following:

What has stopped me from joining this community altogether however, is not knowing how to manage different niches as a micro niche product site builder for vastly unrelated industries within Facebook without appearing unauthentic.

  44. June 26

    David @ 10:28 am

Entertaining, refreshing approach. The appeal that speaks to the potential buyers interests, in their language, is the approach that makes sense to me. No matter what we sell the trust factor is something that must be earned. It’s great to appeal to distinct appetites. The challenge with some ‘merchandise’ is that it may be so closely focused that all you (I’m) really are looking for is one buyer…It would be great to have a team of salespeople though!

Great video – love the style of what you have produced there and it really got my attention.

I have an advert poised to go – just getting a free report ready to give away, which is now nearly finished.

So I’ll wait until I get the next couple of videos from you before I make it go live.

My question is: Would FB be a good place to advertise Fundraising Training for Not-For-Profits? This is not me self promoting, this is me asking what I believe to be a genuine question – I see all sorts of other things being sold on there but have never seen anything specifically focused on the nfp sector.

Thank you – Sarah Jayne (UK)

I guess I don’t get it. If my hypothetical friend that loves camping comes online to interact with his friends on Facebook, there is little guarantee that he will even notice the add for camping gear, amongst many other adds in the right hand column. Right? I don’t get it.

He is coming online exclusively to yak with his friends.

    Eileen Kennedy-Moore @ 10:44 am

Beautiful video with very sensible ideas!

As an author, a lot of the advice I’m hearing (teet! blog! comment!) feels overwhelming and seems like a lot of effort for perhaps little return.

As a speaker, I know that I need to establish a sense of “we” with my audience immediately (i.e., I’m one of them; I respect them and understand their needs and concerns), or they won’t be interested in what I have to say. So, your perspective makes a lot of sense to me.

Looking forward to watching the next video!

Thanks, Drew, for an informative and ENTERTAINING video!

I run two types of businesses… one where I sell products (mostly digital) for anyone in the world to purchase and the other where I need local people to walk through my doors.

  60. June 26

    Steve Hards @ 10:58 am

I’m pleased to learn that it is possible to make money through Facebook without having to spend time actually on the site as I always feel that visiting it is like dropping into a party to meet someone and finding that you can’t have a serious conversation because the host is determined to ‘make everyone jolly’. It’s very tiresome!

BTW, an observation about Twitter: since I discovered how to automate posting my blog posts to Twitter at the time of posting them, I’m not visiting it or reading other people’s posts. If ‘lots’ of people are doing that, then Twitter is rapidly becoming a dialog of the deaf.

  61. June 26

    larry @ 10:58 am

    very interesting

  62. June 26

    Todd @ 11:01 am

To start, great video! You’ve obviously spent a great deal of time figuring out this piece of the puzzle – the dual persona clip was the first I’ve seen outside of Hollywood.

Can you address local, brick and mortar business marketing. Real estate agents, chiropractors and plumber type ads. Does it take a full time person to work this small segment of the marketing budget?

From your earlier audios, others mentioned how to bid and link the ads back to FB pages,is there a secret sauce for the images or the wording to reflect the “I’m in your group – come check this free offer out.”

Can I create a successful FB campaign in a set it and forget it style? How much Tweeking will I spend (spilt tests, conversion monitoring, ect.) before I know I have a winner?

Finally, it seems I must identify my “ideal” client/customer demographics. True with any business. Do you have a tool or methodology to capture that information from inside FB? From outside FB? And are the two sources internal FB demographics different from the”in my business” demographics? Sorry about the crazy question, I know it seems straight forward, I just wonder what your research suggests.

Sorry for the long comment. Thanks for the insights!

  63. June 26

    Tracie @ 11:01 am

This makes sense to me. I’m looking forward to hearing more. One thing I’d like to know more about is the psychology of the fans. What they want, who they trust, how I can help them..things like that.

  64. June 26

    S. Fettner @ 11:02 am

I am curious as to how detailed the demographics can get in Facebook……I have several demographics of my typical customers and would like to know how close I can get to that optimal buyer. Facebook seems to me that you have to get inside the heads of your potential customers and approach them….not let them find you like in Adwords. Looking forward to learning more.

  65. June 26

    Jeff @ 11:08 am

OK, I’m not sure which of the Drew’s I’m supposed to ask . . . but here goes. ;)

How do I estimate how big and profitable a niche is in FB?

One of the Google hoops you have to jump through is the size of the niche, and how much people spend for information in that niche.

In Google, I don’t want it to be so small and specialized that there’s not enough traffic. I don’t want to be so big and competitive that I beat my head against the wall. And I don’t want to find a niche that has all the information you’d ever want for free.

So, for instance, if I wanted to learn a kettlebell exercise, All I have to do is type a search on Youtube and have it demonstrated for me. NO ONE is going to pay for that information if they can get it for free.

How would I evaluate the profitability of a niche for Facebook?

  66. June 26

  69. June 26

Lynn Manning Ross @ 11:16 am

I saw lots of FB potential in 2008. Then my research turned up a list of their directors and one (maybe more) were former CIA executives. Having lived in a communist country — that really turned me off because I don’t want even a drop of personal data ANYWHERE.

NONETHELESS, your video was a hit. You’re very GOOD. Hmmm, although I kept thinking when is his “shoe going to drop” in other words, I’m a captive audience and at some point having made a PERFECT sales pitch in the form of your videos, you want my money for SOMETHING OR THE OTHER!

I did buy Perry’s book several months ago but was not aware at the time I ordered it that it is about me SPENDING money. When I bought it, I thought it was about “AdSense” – not – “AdWords.”

For whatever it’s worth, you’re talented in one direction and I in another! I admire what you are able to do. Good show, thanks.

Side note: What is the cool artwork behind the couch? Thanks again, Bob

    • June 26

      Drew @ 1:08 pm

      Bob,

You’ve got a keen eye! I wondered if people would notice all the little visuals we included. That’s a framed picture of this really cool “lego-like” land where all the buildings have web and social media properties with their logos on it. I’ll try to get a picture of the whole thing and post it for you. We shot most of the video at a company called Gowalla, they have an iPhone app and I’m friends with the owner and staff. Its their picture, I thought it was cool so I threw it into the video.

  72. June 26

    Andrew Mazer @ 11:17 am

Nice presentation. I’m new to facebook pay per click ads but I threw a few ads together, got some clicks and thens of thousands of fairly well targeted impressions.

Comment: I asked a question through some contact portal in the facebook ads area and a very thorough response came back. So I’m just saying that they are very willing to help you along.

So my question to you: should I try to make as many people friends as possible on facebook? For example, where I get “friend suggestions” where certain people are recommended because they’re friends of my friends. do you recommend I send all these people frineds requests?

    Hi Drew:

I thoroughly enjoyed the information presented on this video. Like many entrepreneurs, I became frustrated trying to figure out how to market on Facebook. It was not until I realized that people do not use Facebook to “solve a problem” that I saw the light, albeit a different one. So, I put my entrepreneur mind into high gear, and co-created an Internet community designed specifically to bring small business owners and consumers together through the power of referral marketing. We will be launching in approximately two weeks.

I share this with you because someone who now occupies the same field as Perry Marshall, will soon become known as the expert on how to market with WhoYa.net. I would like it to be you and Perry.

If you are interested in exploring this, feel free to give me a call at 214 995-7238 or email me.

    Thanks again.

How does one identify the social site keywords
that attract an audience that will buy?
(is it about locking in on emotional keywords
used by folks like them? )

    Sonya @ 11:25 am

I enjoyed your video. A refreshing change from the usual. Looking forward to more.

    Larry Justice @ 11:27 am

Hi Drew….Great introduction video…thanks. I did not have a problem creating and getting my ad approved on Facebool..My Challange is this:

When a person clicks on my Facebook ad “Health and Prosperity” they are automatically re-directed to my website “healthandwealthfortune.com” which triggers an email to me with the that persons email address and other information.

In my test….I received 40 clicks on my Facebook ad and not ONE email notification of traffic on my website.

Is Facebook RIPPING ME OFF? When I click on the ad as a test….I received the notification of traffic.

What is wrong….I NEED YOUR HELP AND YOUR COURSE.

    THANK YOU

Great question Greg, if you saw this video it should be because you got an email from Perry about it. If that’s the case you’ll be getting an email tomorrow about where to watch video’s #2 & #3. If a friend gave you a link directly to this video then you’ll need to optin here to get the rest of the videos: http://www.perrymarshall.com/facebook/facebook-presentation-from-maui/

(we’ll also be adding an optin form to this page later in the day and either place you optin will work)

    Chris Jamison @ 11:38 am

I just started online a little over a month ago. I am a internet network marketer. I find it hard to focus on a feasible and profitable strategy as newbie as it is so many ways to market and so many people on the net saying do this and do that to generate leads and cashflow. However, I want to know what strategy do a newbie to the whole internet marketing used in facebook ppc without experiencing total financial detriment? I never did google adwords before. A few month ago I tried FB ads and did not get one lead from my ad as I did not know what I was really doing—I did not have any strategy. I am looking for something feasible for a complete novice to do without having to keep going all over the place buying products to find missing pieces.

    Brett Nordin @ 12:21 pm

Thanks for the excellent content and high quality videos, Drew. I love the perspective on the mind shift marketers must overcome when trying to make money on Facebook.

    My most burning question:
As a Local Service Business, do you have to connect with peoples underlying identity in order to get traffic and sales? Or can you simply market your service to those Profiles that are discussing your market (which doesn’t happen very often)?

I can see the parallel with your Ethos water example and how a local company could start a program to give back to the local Community. You could build a community page off of the Fan Page and start a movement targeting profiles in the local market…

Am I on the right track?

    Thanks again,
    Brett

  102. June 26

    Jina @ 12:24 pm

There is an overwhelming amount of information about how to market on fb and I just wonder …

Is it really possible to make money with fb or is fb just another way for marketing gurus to put out the illusion that an average marketer with little to no experience could actually tap into the money to be made with fb?

  103. June 26

    Matthew Czarnek @ 12:26 pm

Is it better to take people directly to a fan page and try to get them to become a fan, or should you take them to your website and get them to sign up for e-mail, become a fan, or add you on twitter in order to get repeat customers?

  104. June 26

    Karen DeCrane @ 12:28 pm

How do you target the right audience on Facebook? 80% of all keyphrases used by marketers on Google are wasted even with all the research tools that there are to target keywords and leads. Yet they are still basically useless because they don’t bring in money and target the wrong traffic. How do you find that 20% of Facebook users who are going to resonate with your product or service? Are there tools? A process? Some way of casting a narrow net instead of grabbing everyone? I’m tired of kissing frogs – I want to target only the princes who are truly into what I’m selling. So that’s my number 1 question. How do we find and filter on Facebook?

    Hi Drew,

What an amazing video! It shows you put in a lot of time and effort to plan for it and to shoot it.

At the end of the video, you ask for my biggest question. It’s not actually a question, but here it is:

I’d like a blueprint for creating my Facebook ads. A PDF document that’s step-by-step, from start to finish, with actual examples.

If you got that in your product, there are more chances I’ll buy it.

    Another quick comment:

You zoom in, zoom out, and move around a lot in your video. It kinda makes me dizzy. I’d suggest you do it less.

Thanks for the valuable info and I look forward to you next videos.

    Carl Juneau

P.S. I’ve got a video blog running too at http://www.perfectabsprogram.com/.

I am worried about advertising. I tested an ad on facebook and it tanked. The ad was so supposed to run for 24hrs and I capped my limit at £35. Within two hours my budget was gone and I had a bill 0f £40. I stopped the ad straight away and challenged face book as to why I had such a high bill. They told me that a daily budget can be exhauasted within a couple of hours.

Not only that I didn’t get one sale.

My question, just how to do PPC successfully on facebook

    • June 26

      Drew @ 2:22 pm

I am experimenting with Facebook ppc, it worked for 2 months, but after that only people clicking the ads but no sales. But after 2months I changed the photos, is that the reason or other things?

  122. June 26

    Gemma @ 2:27 pm

Thankyou Drew for taking the time to put your ideas into shape. Not an easy thing to do.

I like the idea of being able to find people “that think or feel” in the way I do. I run a small decorating and design company and with the recession am quite strapped for funds.

I didn’t find much success with Adwords – and in the last email/video I was sent through PM, I realized what it was: Google aren’t going to make any money out of me. My footprint is too small and my advertising needs are too small (not to mention my budget).

I get priced out of everywhere by larger or national concerns. I guess this is par for the course in the open market, but it doesn’t help me.

    What are your thoughts?

    • June 26

  125. June 26

    Jodi Forsythe @ 3:05 pm

I LOVE this information, but seem to have a hard time getting off the ground in my FB campaign. In a nutshell, it appears that 1) we need a compelling, conversational ad that entices people to click and 2) land on a page (FB or website) that offers a definite call to action and 3) Oh yeah, something that people are looking for. Does this seem realistic?

I have done the Google research, so I know the demand is out there … I am not sure if advertsing for an niche-educational CPA network is going to work for me. Any thoughts on this? Maybe I just need to redo my ad, but so far I’ve had 15,000 impressions and 1 click. That’s pretty dismal. Can’t wait for the other videos.

    Jodi

  126. June 26

    Gemma @ 3:11 pm

Thankyou for your response, Drew. I appreciate the support you give – Perry has been good, but I guess that there was not so much he could do for me. I am not highly skilled at advertising – I put the emphasis on clarity and experience when talking with customers.

I will warn you that the Dutch do not like commuting – travelling more than half an hour is considered outrageous. You can imagine my Google Adwords “footprint” (the area my ads covered) was tiny.

I am awaiting your following videos with some anticipation.

By the way, as an interior designer I would make the suggestion that you fill the gaps in your ceiling :-)

    • June 26

      Drew @ 3:34 pm

      Gemma,

Thanks again for your comment and nice catch on the ceiling! But actually, that’s considered very hip and “in” over here when doing modern office design. The missing ceiling tiles were intentional. :-)

How do you get people’s attention to check out your shiz? Every time I pick my demographics or post something on my wall, maybe 3 of my 1,934 “friends” usually don’t give me the time of day! Thanks.

  128. June 26

    Helge Krabye @ 3:58 pm

Well, as a teaser, I guess this worked. However, I really don’t understand why a marketing experts like Drew need 10 minutes and 26 seconds to explain something that could be said in one sentence: “In my next video, you will learn how to earn money on Facebook.” It’s like I am about to become mad because I constantly end up on web sites where there are and endless page that explains how great the message below is, and how much I will benefit from reading that message. But where is the message? It’s about the wrapping, isn’t it? American culture is about selling dreams. But I want food!

Thanks so much for your video. I have noticed all the time it takes on all of these sites to get any results, and always wanted to stick with what works not bounce around.

Question: What if I want to give something away?
Does the same principles you are talking about work in this case?

Question: How do you get the understanding of the group? If you don’t learn how to reach them how can you sell to them?

I guess that is why I don’t like going on all these different sites. No feeling of community. I want to learn though. Help.

My question: How to market professional services to both B2B and B2C in a small city?
I’m new to FB, don’t have a lot of friends yet, have set up a fan page but haven’t published it. I’m sick of advertising in the Yellow Pages, but don’t know what to do that’s better!

Thanks for the introduction. It was informative and interesting. However I doubt that my market will benefit a lot from FB advertising, for the simple reason that my target market is too small, from the third world, where the use of a credit card is rare. My profile is at max at almost 5,000 and I have started a Fan Page. I have 1000 friends request and really not sure what to do as FB has a limit on daily e-mails. Any advice on how to market on this platform would be helpful. I look forward to your other videos. Peace and Love, Ann (Skype ID annm.carron1)

If I bought advertising through google or facebook that is based on click response, I would have no guarantee that I’d have any sales. Therefore, no matter what I agreed to pay, I could have a bill of thousands in a months with no sales. I can’t risk that so what am I supposed to do?

    • June 27

      Drew @ 9:52 am

      Anne,

I’ll teach this in my coaching program that starts this week. In short, set a low daily budget, test and track till you come up with a winning offer and funnel. If you haven’t listened to the interview I did with Brandon go here and get it: http://www.perrymarshall.com/facebook/brandon
Its 15 minutes and WELL worth the listen. In week 4 of my program I’ll show exactly how to setup measurable Facebook funnels with clear calls to action that will get you on your way to profits with Facebook.

Interesting presentation, I see u went through the Video Boss =)

I have been getting into facebook lately because of my client’s needs, so this is something I am really interested because I do not use FB PPC yet so really looking forward to it.

My biggest question is about budget. We can all agree that if you had deep pockets than you can just test different combination, but we don’t all have deep pockets, certainly I don’t so we have to be smart about it, so how do you handle a TEST budget, and more than that I would love to see a Real Case Study, to see that in action is possible, but I am sure you’ll include that in the training right?

Loved the college analogy and the identity marketing, quite honestly I never thought about that, but it makes total sense, because I myself don’t click on the standard Adsense look alike FB ads, but I do click on those that have to do with causes or interests, so thanks for that!

Looking forward to this, and to also promote it

    take care

    David C.

I biggest question would be on how to establish a strong local following and getting those fans to respond or interact?

Good stuff! Videos are good, but when you get ready to teach the whole enchilada, real written words need to be delivered with the videos. I’ve recently had the annoying experience of going through pure video courses and then trying to go back and review things that I needed to revisit. It was a huge, time consuming pain. There is nothing that replaces reading, highlighting, reviewing. Then add the hearing and seeing with video and you have a complete learning experience.

  199. Great video and can’t wait for the next one. I’ve been experimenting with four PPC ads on Facebook since the end of March.

In reading through the comments on this page and especially the response to #178, I’ve set a low daily budget, and am testing and tracking, but so far have nearly 100% bounce rates on all four offers. My CTR is running at 0.016% and conversions are happening but are low.

With ROI negative after three months, it’s clear some adjustments need to be made!

Like you suggested, I am “social networked” to death! I need to make money in my large but peculiar market. They are “sick” people and hard to tell anything to. I’m curious about 2 things: 1) I’m well. I identify with them because I had the illness, however… I’m well now. I think that because of that, many of them think of me as an outsider. 2) I want to create a fan page and quit posting exclusively to my personal page. I need to put together the best form and best functionality for the fan page to be effective.

My company has recently added FB Adv as one of its offerings to local businesses and I’m still wrapping my head about how it all works.

We have facebook page with followers, would like to increase followers but also remain ethical, as followers are more like family. We sell products not services. How do we increase our turnover but keep our family happy, and not just use information they share to sell them stuff more products.

I know nothing about facebook twitter have never used them can you help or is this for people who already know these things.. I heard you mention pay per click this sounds expensive and risky at least that is what I heard. I have no website or list or domain or hosting.

my first book is publised Sept 2010 and I have been informed I should market on facebook. It is called “Transformed by the Power of God: Learning to be clothed in Jesus Christ” Destiny Image is the publisher and it is a prophetic message to the Christian Churh.

So besides writing on people’s Walls and telling them about it and where and when they can get it. What else can I do?

In “Ads and Pages” I have started a page, but not gone forward with it.They want to charge me $50.00 per month or $0.99 per hit.I do not know if that is worth my expense.

So how would you market a new non-fiction book released for the Body of Christ?

    Drew,
The numbers your talking about would be something I would have never even thought of. What that could and according to you would do to someone’s business is phenomenal or could be.. My questions is you can only get to know so many people so that’s not where it’s at. So then how doe’s one start with a page and go forth. Do I need my own Blog, Is a website sufficient? You cannot just go on face book and post an ad. Perhaps I am missing a lot here as I am somewhat of a new kid on the block you could say. I’m waiting for your next video. I have heard that social sites are going to be the wave of advertising and they have social sites that are geared for business. But it still comes down to how many people you know. I need to soak it all in like a sponge so if you will help me on these questions if you can even get a question out of this mess I would be grateful and am waiting for more info from you.

    Thanks

    Doug

How do you sell a service that people don’t want, rather something they need and better yet something that isn’t well known. I have tried FB PPC ads and they fail miserably for my clients.

I am interested at two levels – how FB can create clients for my clients and how FB can create them for me. I have 200 Likes (Fans now).

hi Drew, great video, i have just started advertising on facebook and was wondering how do you know how much
    to pay for clicks.

  348. June 28

    Gordon @ 9:59 pm

    Hi,

    Interesting video..

In my own humble opinion I believe facebook ads are akin to interruption marketing just like PPV..in other words you have to grab the users attention..

My family use facebook everyday to keep up with friends scattered around the world though, I have never seen any of them click facebook ads..

The concept of using conscience marketing is a good one as we have seen with fair trade products…and the bottled water you highlight..

Here is my problem with most IM products..It’s almost always “how long is a piece of string” In my own tutorials I aim to do everything live as it happens, this way the recipient can see the result of the action..

To refine the point I’m making..can you guys actually show a step by step live, working example of any one facebook campaign?

    Thanks,

    Gordon.

    PS: great video presentation.

    Thank you, Drew.

Good introductory video. I am eager to view videos #2 & #3 to learn more about the actual mechanics of how to generate income through Facebook. Of course, there’s no argument with the success of Facebook as a social networking site; the question is how do you capitalize on it to (legally and morally) build a successful on-line business of your own?

I’m eager to hear more. Thanks,

    Jeffrey

    Hey!

I’m Spike and I run a killer Dating Workshop here in NYC. Can FB be used on a more local basis to get the word out about the amazing things that we accomplish and to build a following of happy (and hopefully paying) customers?

Also, I’m an officer of a Not For Profit called “World Peace, One Falafel at a Time” (no I’m not kidding). How can we utilize FB to spread the word, globally, about our peace programs?

Social networking is all about meeting people, while marketing moves people towards meeting a different need. In between is entertainment (Youtube), worldwide awareness(News), interactive fun (gambling, games).

Another major challenge is keeping track of your life which I suggest email is better than facebook, especially if it becomes more interactive.

This is me learning, but let me know if you agree.

I am intrigued. Why? People that i seem to hang around use facebook for making money, but the conning way. I thought to myself there must be an easier way to do this make money lark without ripping people off and getting your fan pages banned.

Then i get an email from someone i didn’t expect to, and here i am on your site. I am intrigued to know more and i don’t know if i opted in right, because a message came up saying ‘unable to process’, so if you could opt me in please.

I liked the straight forwardness of this Video. I am new to all of this and would like to know how to actually convert the list to sales. Also, what type of info would one actually post on their FB page?

  412. June 29

    Tad Keyser @ 12:46 pm

    Hi Drew,
1st what a great compelling call to action for the opt in. As some of your message alludes to, we are dabblers in the Facebook, Twitter, Blog circle but with no way to tangibly define results other than links from the blog to the site which have been robust and fairly decent quality. That being said we are on the simplest terms an e-tailer. We sell bricks and mortar that are stylish and super cost effective. We do have a green bent and eco sensibility and my guess is this is where we shift to. So my question is do I do that and drive traffic and opt ins to the blog to create followers, loyalty, referrals, a community and eventual purchasers.
    Thanks
    Tad

So – I’m in the game, have a bunch of friends from all over the world – we love Doberman Pinschers – tweet, blog and FB and all connected – but now what – you mean I can push some kind of products at my “friends” and hope they don’t notice – haha – go point the way – you got my ears, hands off my keyboard (yes, both of’em).

What do I need to do to open a face-book account for these endeavors. What options do I need to make sure I do it right?

I honestly have a fear of putting too much info on the web. As a retiree I can not see me dealing with identity theft.

Create a business page (also called a Facebook Fan Page) and market through that. Then you don’t have to expose your personal stuff.

    Hey Drew,

    Awesome video and content!

My problem with Facebook is simple- if I want to maintain privacy and not have the whole world watching what I do, how can I market effectively without having every single person know or be able to find out what I do?

I work in 2 very different areas- one which requires that I interface with successful investors who are private about their dealings (and suspect they would not like their guy all over facebook).

The 2nd- I work with small busienss owners to market their business online and using socail media and video marketing. here is where I want to market my services.

    Any advice?

    Shane

    Drew -

Awesome video both in terms of style and (especially) content. What I appreciate most is that you are not just presenting a nice package without a prize inside. It seems obvious, but my feeling that if the free content is this good … I can’t wait to see what is in the actual course.

There is no doubt that Facebook is a real player now, especially given all of the recent “marketer slaps.” I don’t blame them as their priority is the search experience for their customer. As marketers we have to simply work within the limits of their terms of service and look for alternatives. Facebook sounds like a good choice to me.

    Thank you … awesome!

    James

I love the idea of social marketing, but so far the apps that facebook lists as having “in house” are hard to understand both in purpose as well as practicality. Is it necessary to go to an “App Store” like North Social to “rent” their apps or does facebook have their own and in some archive somewhere tell you how to use them? I mean I can “insert code” but the question is… where do we really want it?

Hi. I bought and read PM’s excellent Facebook guide on Amazon, and my biggest question is about conversion tracking on Facebook.

On the one hand, the book highly recommends to send ad traffic to a fan page rather than to an external page and to track your conversion funnel closely, but on the other hand, I understood that tracking fan page conversions is not fully possible at this time. So how do you recommend we track our campaigns and benefit from using a fan page as a landing page?

By the way, I’ve integrated custom landing tabs in Facebook using an iFrame and customized WordPress theme, so I wonder if there’s an easy way to hook up Google Analytics to the custom tab and track conversions that way and if this would be congruent with Facebook’s terms of service.

Please let me know if you have any tips on this.
