“Sharing My Center”

In the 1990’s I had the opportunity to help pioneer an innovative discussion format, “Seeker Small Groups” created at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington Illinois. A Seeker Small Group was a safe place where anybody who didn’t believe the Bible and didn’t agree with Christianity was welcome to air their doubts and frustrations. A no-man’s land between faith and doubt.

In this talk, I describe how I helped my friend Nathan Aaberg and his wife overcome major doubts about faith. We spent a couple of years together in our Seeker group… then our paths diverged.

What I didn’t know was, soon after that, my own beliefs were about to be severely shaken.

15 years later, Nathan invited me to come speak at his church about my story for his “Sharing Our Center” series. Here, my own journey of faith and doubt:
