A tornado ripped through Joplin Missouri 2 days ago. Death toll: 123. 2,000 buildings destroyed. You can see pictures here.
These people urgently need your help.
I’d like to offer you several ways to assist, including one that helps YOU back in a big way. Please stick with me because there’s a great Social Media story here too.
Travis Smith, is a long-time Planet Perry member and local Search Engine Optimization / Google Maps expert from Colombia Missouri. In fact last week I introduced his Local SEO course which is *excellent.*
Last night Travis called me. He said he wants to donate 100% of the fees for his SEO course to the Tornado victims.
That means you can buy his Local SEO course for $97 or $397 and everything he collects after credit card processing fees will be forwarded to tornado relief work.

Travis works at an SEO & Social Media company 2 hours north of Joplin. 3 days ago Brent Beshore, the owner, couldn’t get any information on some of his friends in Joplin. So he started a Facebook Fan page to gather information. It’s got 157,000 fans now and he’s raised $450,000. You can donate directly to Joplin from this page:

Hats off to Travis Smith … what a generous offer to help those in need. Acts like that go a long way toward restoring my faith in humanity.
Having lived through Hurricane Katrina, I know first hand what it is like to start over. And I know that every act of kindness helps in untold different ways. In times of massive natural disasters, one of the greatest needs humans have is feeling like they are not alone.
Hey Perry,
We’re about 25 minutes from the disaster zone called Joplin, it’s the town we go to when we want to go out to eat, see a movie or shop at the mall. It’s such a terrible event that’s happened it’s hard to know what to do to help but we’re running some donations up there today or tomorrow.
Thank you for putting the word out to your list – we appreciate it!
Fred
Hey Perry–thanks for sharing that. I live about 100 miles east of Joplin and the same storm passed over us on Sunday night. But it had weakened considerably so nothing like Joplin got. The outpouring of help here has been overwhelming. Thousands of people have been filling multiple semi-trucks full of food, water, clothing, and other supplies and sending them over. We cleaned out our closets and hit the stores this week and gave them everything we could. But everyone around here is being touched by this tragedy somehow. Friends and relatives are still missing (about 1500 according to last night’s news) The devastation is so immense, it’s almost unimaginable. Please continue to pray for the Joplin area.
