If you’re an entrepreneur, you’re a superhero.
You take risks others are unwilling to take. You suit up every day and battle the bad guys and naysayers, and do what needs to be done until you win. Because you have big dreams. Dreams to provide for yourself and the world in ways where corporations, governments, and other well-meaning institutions fall short.
They world needs superheroes. The world needs you.
So, have you struck your superhero pose today?
I’m not kidding. Just 2 minutes in a “power pose” can lower your levels of cortisol (the stress hormone), increase your testosterone, boost your feelings of power, increase your tolerance for risk…and even cause others to see you in a more positive light. In her recent TED Talk, Harvard researcher, Amy Cuddy, delivered these findings. You can find her talk on Netflix or YouTube.
So, here’s what I want you to do… stand up, put your fists on your hips with your feet slightly more than shoulder-width apart, lift your chin, pull back your shoulders, and push out your chest.
Now hold it for 2 minutes. That’s it.
Like me, you probably spend most of your day in very un-superhero-like poses.
For example, how are you reading this message right now? Are you sitting at a desk? Are you hunched over? Are you shoulders rounded? Is there a tightness in your neck or back?
If you’re like most online entrepreneurs, you probably spend a lot of time at your laptop. You probably get thoroughly engrossed in what you’re doing and often lose track of time. I know when I get on roll I don’t want to lose the muse by getting up from my chair and taking a break.
But I should do it much more often. And you should too. So, stand up right now and take 2 minutes to power pose and fight off stress and increase your power.
You’ll be a stronger superhero. And the world will be a better place for it.
