Gotta get some things off my chest about what goes on in the Internet Marketing biz, education, truth-telling and the massive paradigm shift we’re experiencing right now. And what it’s going to take for you to stay on top the next 1-5-10 years:

  1. Thank you for being straight- I have spent alot of money on GURU products out there and I am now further away from my goals and dreams…But at least with this post I won’ t give up. I’ll just use more wisdom. Thanks

  2. Hey Perry,

Thought provoking. I’ve noticed the same things online. Things have changed drastically in just the last 6 months, let alone a year. Those changes have drastically changed the economics of marketing online for most information based direct marketing businesses and yet . . .

What I see hitting my email inbox most of the time relates nothing to the changes and how to survive and prosper through them. Instead I see a LOT more “hype” or vestigial type solutions (things that don’t address the main problems) being presented.

Reading between the lines, it’s almost like most people selling stuff are saying through their actions “I don’t know how to fix things for you, but I know how to sell to you and I’ve got to make money so game on!”

I can empathize with the need to keep your business viable, but creating profits through delusion has to have a bad karmic conclusion for the person knowingly making that choice.

For the solution, I’ve long and hard about it. What I can see is, “us” marketers have to really realize first that things will continue to change and that big business could care less about us as customers. Moving forward we really have to band together for the betterment of the community at large.

The last eight years or so it’s been every marketer for him or herself, I don’t think that strategy is going to be as viable moving forward. I see those that will really have staying power as those that really commit to community and banding together.

In other words, the idea of the “guru” being the all knowing will diminish in it’s appeal, and the idea of the “guru” being the good Shepard will prevail.

    Just thoughts from sunny Maui.

  3. Superb, superb, superb content, Perry! We can only make the world a better place by telling the truth (after thinking deeply about the various aspects of a particular situation). Thank you for being a truth-teller!

  4. Not an easy speal to listen to Perry, but, a necessary one. I agree with several of the points that you make, but two of them stand out.

    1) Training costs money and if you are serious about an online business, be prepared to invest in learning. It continues to surprise me that people think nothing of spending many thousands of dollars training for a career, but think that learning to market online should be free. The big problem I fear is that too many are taken in by those that perpetuate the idea of making it online for no cost and by the time they figure that out, they are too deep in debt to afford investing in those teachers that provide realistic training from which they can truly benefit.

What I would like is a list of quality trainers in the online marketing field that can be recommended to those looking at starting a business online.

    2) Legacy. At the end of my time I want to be able to look back at my life and know that I lived that life with integrity. I want to know that the values I have lived by are ones that my children can look at with pride and use in their own lives.

Thank you for your rant, Perry.

  5. Hi Perry

Hat tip to you for sticking your head above the wall.

In stark relief to the ever-present wall of white noise, AKA as Internet/Info Marketing, your wise counsel starkly stands.

How could it not stand aside from the bloated and adolescent ‘just add water and stir for 2 minutes…and you too can be a gazillionaire’ posturing of others.

You call to ‘tell the truth’ and ‘build a lasting legacy’ are potent and much needed reminders to work with purpose and attention…

…Turn Up, Pay Attention, Tell The Truth

    Thanks Perry.

    Jeff

  6. Hey Perry – Thank goodness one of you ‘internet gurus’ is finally standing up to be counted on this topic.

I’ve been building real businesses for 40 years. In that time I’ve built businesses of virtually all kinds. Home based lifestyle businesses to international software companies employing thousands.

In that time I learned a thing or two about what it takes to succeed in business.

2 years ago I started ‘ThePerfectBizFinder’ and ThePerfectBizBuilder program to help wanna-be, upstart, and early stage entrepreneurs find and build ‘real’ businesses that provide real value to real people…(and to expressly avoid the fast-n-easy money B.S. out there on and off the internet)..and to provide the personal fulfillment and lifestyle they’ve always wanted.

In that time we’ve help start over 2000 real honest to goodness value growing businesses.

I appreciate your forthright communication of a simple yet profound truth and look forward to hearing more of the same from others.

Thanks for stepping up and sharing

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  7. Very true — I’m just starting out as a marketing consultant, and my clients have said that they valued the clarity and simplifying of the problems more than the results!

My goal is always to make sure they don’t need me indefinitely. If I died in 6 months, I’d want to leave my clients with a clear direction — even if they don’t know exactly what to do, they’d at least know where they are going.

I think that the worst effect of all those tactically-focused programs is how they can derail desperate people from their best course of action. They encourage opportunity-seeking, not true definiteness of purpose based on what they can uniquely offer the world.

  8. Hi Perry,

You probably don’t know me but I know Kevin Thompson who speaks very highly of you. Now I understand why,
after listening to your video, very enlightening, and truthful. Myself, I would rather write about something I know a lot about even if it is not to everyone’s liking, than about something drempt up, which I would find too hard to write about anyhow!
Thanks for your time and the truthful video, I agree with you 100%.

  9. I’m not sure which media *you* were watching, listening to, or reading, but… What *I* was watching at the time made it clear in no uncertain terms that what was happening in the Middle East–indeed, what is still happening–was about the people standing up for their God-given right to freedom; whichever God they might believe in. A sweeping statement like that about “the media” getting it wrong, was completely uncalled for…unless you watch that huckster Glen Beck.

To be clear, I have no affiliation with journalism nor do I have any friends in the business. Further, I don’t disagree that much of today’s traditional media is somewhere between weak…and criminal. For what it’s worth, I feel your overall message was on point but a generalized slam like that was antithetical to the message.

This wasn’t meant to be a flame post. Just a bit of a “tsk tsk tsk”…

  10. Right on target, Perry.

Thanks for your authentic voice in the sea of questionable ones. Please do this more often.

Your words have encouraged me enormously.

Forgive me, but I’ll contribute to your rant a bit myself. Hopefully it will add some additional value to what you’ve already shared.

I believe that marketers of integrity could pretty much nail it every time if they followed three simple criteria when setting out to offer something to the marketplace.

In my experience marketing online for nearly 15 years now, my failed ventures fell short in one or more of these areas. Those that succeeded hit all three. The ideal is to offer something that hits all 3.

These 3 criteria are: 1. offer a product or service that people truly want (don’t just need) 2. make sure it works, is effective and delivers on the promise 3. it’s sustainable for the long-term. Better yet, it’s a legacy building solution for them.

These are obvious to most of us, but unfortunately the less than professional marketers out there that you are referring to, rarely (if ever) give these ideas a moment of thought, subsequently clutter up the marketplace with junk that the rest of us are forced to wade through with a skeptical comb and a cynical broom.

For example, I recently purchased one of those big ticket ($3K) Version 2 products launched and promoted by all the usual big-list gurus (tip: caveat emptier anything that touts “Ver. 2” release. It’s often a euphemism for “soon-to-be-obsolete-but-let’s-squeeze-some-more-cash-out-of-it-before-it-is”). I was 75% optimistic but I’ve been around long enough (aka made lots of mistakes) not to trust that feeling very strongly. Fortunately, after getting into it for a day or two, I was able to detect the gigantic heap of manure that this supposed “empire” was built upon and got out of it as quickly as I could. Trust that little voice! Questions were asked and deals were offered to keep me in, even though it was sold on a “no questions asked guarantee”. Such a pile.

Unfortunately, because of their textbook product launch (thanks JW), slick members area design and plethora of bells, whistles and bright shining objects, the vast majority of living-on-hope buyers will hang in there well beyond the refund deadline and be stuck with a “thing” that is neither effective nor sustainable. Oops! There goes another 3 grand!

    Yes, caveat emptor.

  11. Perry,
Thanks for the great video and the valuable information it contains.
I always find something useful and valuable in your information.
Thanks for being a wonderful online-teacher whose purpose is to truly educate, inform, and liberate.
    Sincerely/
    Barbara J.

  12. Thank you, Perry. I wish there were more folks out there who could understand and put to use what YOU teach. I enjoy what you have to say. Again, thank you.

  13. Perry, Thanks for sharing for thoughts. I’ve spend a lot of money buying different marketing products promising huge return but in reality no return what so ever. Just this year I decided to be learn about marketing and become a strategic marketer in order to push my business forward. Great video!

  14. The good thing about being poor is that one cannot waste thousands of $ on gurus :-).
I still wonder why all of a sudden the “good guys” come up? Why not earlier, before people have spent all their money on the gurus?
I am not so sure about “real expensive education”. I don’t feel I got the information in my “real” education that would have set me up for success. If that was true, why would I look for information elsewhere ?
As I am not an insider, who are the Gurus you are talking about?

  15. Really enjoyed your video, Perry. I loved this line: “You’re a talent scout.” I’ll be thinking about that over the next few weeks/months.

  16. I have been wanting to get into internet marketing for a while now, but my progress has been slow and erratic. I assumed that it was me and my limitations that were the problem

But after reading your post, the lights finally went. I have been bombarded endlessly with sales offers focusing on tricks and secrets. Frankly, I am put off by that kind of mentality, and don’t want to listen to people like that or become like them.

Lately, the claims for making huge money with no work have become so outrageous, they can’t be taken seriously. It’s a joke.

So part of my dilemma has been an ethical one. There are not enough ethical role models for newcomers

Thanks so much for this post and the clarity it provided. I am a big picture thinker, and needed to know the big picture of what is happening in this field; now can make more informed decisions about my path

ps: last night I attended a webinar with someone who was exposing the outright fraud being perpetrated by online marketers, and today I got your email; hopefully this is the beginning of a trend towards more truthfulness in this arena

  17. Great post Perry. I like your style and your honesty and that is why I have stayed a subscriber to your email mailings for many years.

I am sick and tired of all the Internet Marketers who simply use PLR spun content to “teach” their customers. And now the trend is spreading to the Kindle books. It’s amazing how just about anyone can get published in kindle book form through Amazon. And some people are simply spinning PLR content to write them. (Very Sad)

In the past “true authors” had to submit their books to publishing houses. The publishers then carefully inspected both the value of the content and the credentials of the writer before they could ever get published. Now it’s a “free for all”—a child could write a ebook and probably get it published.

I heard in 2010 Amazaon sold more kindle books than printed books. This is scary to me. What kind of quality can we expect in our future books if unqualified, misinformed amateur “authors” are writing these books. I truly hope that Amazon STOPS the publishing so many poor quality second rate kindle books. It would be nice if they charged a inspection fee and had a panel of editors to read and approve of the quality of the content before they allowed it to be released to the public. I can only hope that this will happen sometime soon. In the meantime—buyer beware—be careful of what kindle books you purchase.

Sorry for the venting. But I feel better for having my say.

    Penny

  18. Thank you for posting this video. so many BS things going on out there and not enough value given. The hype wave of marketing and promising so many great things and how people fall into them are over.

Can’t believe so many people listen to the hype.

Thank you for your articles and for telling the truth.

  19. What’s happening on the internet is simply mirroring
    our society Perry.
This is what happens when God and the strap are taken out of the school system(s).
Now I’ll get attacked of course since I mentioned God
so maybe take that a little deeper.
Not allowed to discipline with no moral compass.
    Is that better?
My kids are 11 and 14 and I am banned for life from coming to their school.
I speak my strong mind and don’t actually give a shit
    what the PC a–holes think.
I was 40 when my Son was born.
So first child at a wiser age than many.
So coming from the public school system
in the 60’s I was totally STUNNED to see
that the liberal socialists, politically correct, unionized, man hating school system
run by woman (I love women married for 23 years)here in Toronto for the most part have ruined the public system.
Apparently all of N.A. has the same situation.
Too much testosterone I guess for some.
    Is this off topic?
No….since the folks coming online mirror
what they’ve learned in those school systems.
Why do folks come online as you said and think
they will find a big red easy button?
Why do folks come online expecting that one ad or
one blog post or one system or one ebook or….
    will set them free?
Why do folks never pick up a self help book to change enough so they can make 10k or 20k or just way more than they make now?
Look you can’t get there as you are.
Our master Mind group teaches Mind Set and Marketing.
And you are right we have MUCH WORK AHEAD LIKE YOU.
BECAUSE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM IS STILL DOING WHAT IT DOES.
Pumping out skulls full of mush for the most part.
The internet needs us to teach.

  20. Hey Perry,

Talk about long term relationships – I’ve been reading your stuff for probably 5 years. You say it like it is but I do want to remind you that “snake oil” has been around forever; it’s always about separating the wheat from the chaff. There will always be the “I want something for nothing” crowd and people who sell to them.

One reason I’ve had trouble promoting many info-affiliate products is because of the lack of real content; just re-hashed crap with unbelievable claims. I just talked to a guy a few days ago that had been swindled out of $2,000 for an ecommerce store that was sold based on his innocence combined with ignorance with a dash of his own desperation. What gets me is how these people sleep at night.

Just a couple of notes; If you haven’t read the Rolling Stone expose on why no one on Wall Street is in jail take a few minutes to check that out. And kudos for one journalist making a difference.

Last note; your sister is right about the signs and marketing behind politics. You don’t have to have answers just money. Our current US President has more than $1 billion (or so I heard) in his re-election war chest. What does this portend? A lot of signs, eh! LOL

Perry, you’re making a difference and it is appreciated. Thanks and keep it up ….

  21. Thank you Perry for taking the time to do the video. I’ve followed you for some time, but for some reason the points you discussed today were particularly poignant.

I think you were being exceedingly generous when you said that “American journalism is very, very, very mediocre… they do not do their job. They pander to eyeballs!”. It appears to me they are now so biased and corrupted as to be of little, if any value.

Obviously one can’t believe everything on the Internet either. However the Internet’s magnitude allows anyone the ability to do his or her due-diligence to a depth never possible before. I’ll take my chances online anytime over the printed or televised media!

    Keep up the good fight…
    Dan

  22. Thanks for the video and great information…I have always liked your opinions.

Bloggers and marketers do make a difference, but the “Buyers Beware” slogan will never go away…keep your eyes, ears, and that great sense of smell wide open!

  23. Very strong and I could see and feel the sincerity and frustration you were having while talking about the corrupted media which is very true. I am new to your website but this single video convinces me to take anything that comes from you! Thank you Perry.

  24. Bravo Perry,

I really appreciate your comments on legacy and strategy vs. selling a bunch of stuff. As you know, I got caught in the trap of selling a bunch of stuff. The latest, greatest, new fangled thingy to get more buyers.

Now, it’s all about the long term legacy, the building of a relationship. Selling things at a fair price that helps someone along the path and delivering the solution to their problem. Not just a bunch of reheated content.

Keep it up. I agree, lots more change coming.

  25. Thanks for your insights about teachers being held to a higher level of accountability.

I manage pay-per-click accounts for clients and I try my best to earn an honest living for myself and for my family.

In the past year I’ve been asked to share some of my knowledge (most of which originally came from you). I’m an informal teacher because I educate my clients about pay-per-click. I also formally teach some evening courses about Internet marketing at our local community college.

I will remember what you said in this video and continue to tell the truth about Internet marketing.

  26. Hi Perry,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and putting it all out there in your usual style. There are so few people in the internet marketing world that I have deep respect for, and on the one hand I count them on, you are one of them. I’ve tuned out just about everyone else, and I may have thrown the baby out with the bathwater in some instances, but I’m willing to accept that.

    Keep up the good work!

  27. Perry,

I totally agree with you about education. If you want to learn about business and marketing, you need to make sure that the person you learn from, knows what it’s like to make payroll. If they’ve never been responsible for making sure that they have enough money each week to pay their staff, then all of their teaching is based on theory and not application.

The best teachers are the ones that are applying what they teach in their own business. These teachers do not come cheap, because they know the value of what they teach will return multiples of what they charge.

I am 54 years old and I have two successful businesses. I continue to spend tens of thousands of dollars each year to learn more about business and marketing. I seek out experience and the application of knowledge which is the true definition of wisdom.

Finding the right people to study with is the first part. The second part is to take action. If you don’t apply it, you’ve wasted your time and effort. 95% of all people never apply what they learn.

I have been a customer of Perry’s for six years and I am a part of his Roundtable group. I truly enjoy all my time studying with Perry and brainstorming with the Roundtable group. I have only applied a small percentage of what I have learned and I have had great success.

If you want to succeed in business and marketing, make sure, one of your teachers is Perry Marshall.

  28. Hi Perry,

    GREAT video!!!

    That’s what I’ve always liked about you…

You’re a straight shooter and tell it like it is.

Thanks for sharing, because people really need to hear this message.

I’m going to share your video with my own subscriber list as well.

  29. Thanks Perry. Good stuff to think about.

I do find myself willing to pay for an education, but usually tread carefully. Even big ticket items can either underdeliver, or are the student isn’t ready for what’s being taught.

Glad to see you taking a higher road approach. Glad to have you as someone I can call my mentor.

  30. Thank you Perry,

A great video post. I am so very glad to see that not only are you maintaining your integrity , but the internet marketing community in general has been forced to look in the mirror.

I came into internet marketing a little less than 2 years ago and one of the main things I committed to is that, while I don’t sell info products (I have an online retail store in the home and garden decor accessory arena), my business is here for the long haul. I stand behind my products and my customers. Word of mouth and repeat business is as much a cornerstone of my business philosophy as integrity in teaching are in yours.

I really liked your video and hope many people take it to heart.

    Again, thank you,
    Patricia

  31. Your comment about the American media coverage of what happened in Egypt caught me by surprise. We unplugged our TV coming on 2 years. So I get my news from some email news alert I have subscribed to. Now interestingly of late I have also been listening to NPR for about 30 to 60 minutes some afternoons, more by accident than anything else. Their coverage of the events in Egypt highlighted this as people vs. old regime. That it was driven much at the beginning by educated, young Egyptians but become broad based. NPR reporters commented more than once that there was no anti-american comments or chanting from the crowds.

While NPR definitely has its liberal bias at times, it sounds like it did a better job. It’s market place segment was interviewing Egyptian business owners.

  32. I myself have always felt a bit at odds with that idea put forward by some of these Internet gurus/experts etc…that you too can set yourself up as an expert and authority in your niche just by putting out an ebook or a blog etc. A lot of people who are doing it are NOT an expert on their subjects and only making matters worse. I’ve never understood that!!! I myself can now do this because I am extremely Knowledgable about my subject…weight-loss. Over a very long period of time, I have gathered information from experts on the subject who do know what they are talking about. At the same time, coming up with ideas of my own. I’m the kind of person who wants the truth about eveything. Finally, I have been into this personal development thing for over 20 years now and have never understood why sometimes I get stuck. I recently came across a video that explained a lot of things to me. It’s one of my most valuable possessions now and worth the price of my house…£100,000. I’m not kidding. The right information is vital, you have to pay for it and it’s only one part of the success process. YOU ROCK PERRY!

  33. Hey Perry
Nice video. I totally agree with what you say….

When your true inspiration comes helping people from the bottom of your heart, business will usually come naturally. I believe that most are sick and tired of pushy sales people so the true marketers will prevail in the long term…So just like the dictators will come to an end, the internet marketers with quick and short term tricks will come to an end I agree. Humanity in its best form comes from helping others while humanity at its worst comes from looking at the money only at the expense of others…

May we all strive to help each other cause in the end it will all go away and we will stand before the Lord with what we have done…

Best of luck and keep spreading da word…

    Johan

  34. Hi Perry,
I agree with most of what you say.

I have found there are a lot of scammers, plus sub-standard stuff out there.

I have been trying to make it in the internet marketing world for four years but never seem to be able to make a penny. This is my last year!

I am also deleting all guru’s (cutting down the noise) from my mail and guess what you are one of two that I am keeping.

I bought your book I think it was about 2 or 3 years back and it really helped me in understanding and using Adwords.

I am due a refresher and will be buying your new version in the next couple of months.

Thanks for telling it straight. I wish there were more like you.

  35. The voice of reason is always a welcome change from that of the snake oil salesman.

I got my start in online business 5 years ago, and had no idea what was about to happen to me. I spent more money than I care to admit on programs that claimed huge income opportunities with residual security. As the clock ticked away on my new endeavors I found the underlying curse behind all these so called work from home businesses, and that was reality. The cold hard facts of 3% of the people you talk with might join your opportunity, and 1% of the 3% you sign might stay.

Lucky for me I didn’t just rely on those crooks for my bread and butter. I decided to learn how to market, build web applications, and write ad copy. From there I realized I should start my own web development company where I would be able to provide people with tangible products that would provide the utmost value for their success.

All those so called opportunities reinvent themselves overtime as their name becomes tainted by unsatisfied clients. I would recommend the utmost in due diligence to anyone deciding to join any opportunity making claims of high earnings. If it sounds to good to be true, it is!

Thank you for another great insight as to why we should produce value for our fellow man, and refrain from easy street. You are one of the few sources I acquired during my hard lessons on the Internet that I still have respect for.

There is no replacement for effort, and there never will be. Those who till the soil, plant, and nurture receive the bounty from yield of their efforts. While those who plant a seed in the weeds will never experience the beanstalk, they are expecting to spring up overnight.

  36. Perry – Your words are confirmation of what I’ve tried to follow since I’ve been online. It hasn’t always been easy separating the wheat from the considerable chaff out there about Internet marketing.

Integrity counts, whether or not one subscribes to any particular religious teachings. There are no short cuts or free lunches. If like me you believe in karma, those who screw their fellow human beings ultimately get paid back in kind.

  37. Hi Perry,

I love your rants and how you are talking about paradigm shifts and sweeping change.

I have adopted that philosophy in my consulting and marketing practice and work very hard to teach my clients that.

I use that to help them understand the necessity of strategy first and tactics second.

    Thanks for all you do!

  38. Hi Perry,

You are spot on. If all internet marketers could think like you the IM community would be so much better.
I’ve spent years buying “this and that” from gurus with no good results even though I put all my efforts to implement. Beyond the money to make, Internet marketers should think about their legacy as human beings.

  39. Perry:
Good post but very serious material. Business is humans interacting one with another. There will always be the sudden flash in pan activities that get your attention but honest transactions are balanced exchanges between people that should leave all happy. Yes, in my opinion, we are in a time of great change. I read an interesting take on the 2012 predictions that basically said it was the end of old institutions. However, it is obvious there is a great polarization going on that I suspect will only increase as we move forward. The secret to offset the cheats and slick deals is to educate people the people involved. As people learn more about their world they will make better decisions and be harder to fool. In this way their decisions will be based in more real expectations and bring the patience and determination needed to succeed.

  40. Thank you for one of the most honest videos I’ve watched in a long time. It has given me hope that truth, application and simplicity could yet be enough to get marketing messages heard.

  41. Great video… the IM market has really become a joke, mostly led by people who make decisions and build business with the sole purpose of extracting as much as possible from their communities while serving those people as little possible. Most are selling MLM dressed up in HTML. Thanks for keeping it real.

    Lucas

  42. Yes Perry, it was stimulating. Thank you for the kick in the pants I needed to have the courage of my convictions and not give in to the massive noise levels of the IM world. You made more of a difference than you will probably ever know.

  43. I would say that I fall into the category of someone who has paid to learn online but the problem comes with using different yardsticks to measure. If you apply to university everyone measures THAT university with roughly the same yardstick. You can’t do that with online learning. You have to research and risk with your money, time and ultimately your education. If you trust someone stick with learning from them.

  44. Scammers aren’t new and the marketing of products and services will always be “sold”.

Those that tell the truth and have something that lasts over time will succeed over time.

    What you say is true!

  45. I watched your video on origins. When you ended with John 1:1 I was practically clapping. Great Job, Great lecture, Great witness. I wish someone would approach a christian TV station and propose a lecture series of various scientists defending creation. I would say good luck to you, but you have replaced luck with work. So happy working to you and continue your great preaching.

    Sincerely,

    John Cammarata

    P.S.

I teach, I hope I am not held to too high of a standard.

  46. Perry,

an interesting series of events for me today. usually I don’t open up or read many of emails I get during the week, as I’m busy. As I made the decision to unsubscribe to every ‘guru’ in my overflowing inbox, I thought- 1 more from Perry.

    Glad I watched the video.

For the past 7 years I’ve invested (some might say wasted) over 25k worth of marketing material and info products online. I’ve dreamed of creating an online business and vacationing with my wife and family.

You know, the same pipe dream that all you need is an idea and passion about something and you’ll sell thousands of mediocre products with the right marketing strategy.

So far- its still a dream, kinda like winning the loto. Always thought I was a quick learner, but I guess like in stocks, I don’t cut my losers short.

    Takes me to your video.

You put your nuts on the line. Said some things that 1/1000 gurus wouldn’t.

I respect that about you. I’ve never met you, although I have bought info from you in the past. Will say that you deliver what you say and then some.

What struck me was your story about the internet marketer who passed away. The legacy one leaves behind is, in my opinion paramount. If it is the same guy I think it is, I actually attended one of his successors 5 day bootcamps that ran me about 10k. Learned some, not what I expected. Oh well, lesson learned.

I’ve been working (read playing) in my spare time on a ‘blueprint’ for local businesses to attract more clients with social media marketing. I actually do it and because I’m so busy, only focus in my business and my wife’s (both self employed).

My internal struggle has been, form the start- there is already enough great info in the market and I really have nothing new to say. So, seems to me, that creating something new would not serve people, other than me.

Why? I can not in good conscious create something inferior and sell it. I don’t live and breathe social media marketing like the guys I learn from.

    So then what?

Follow my true passion. Regardless of whether it makes money or not (provided things continue, and biz is good won’t be a problem).

My obstacle- I need to grow a pair and say what needs to be said (like you) in the real estate investing world . In my opinion, about the same amount of charlatans in this environment, only the stakes are much higher

When I get off my ass and take a stand- I’ll shoot you an email.

Take care Perry- I really do appreciate your advice and insight.

    Thanks

    1. Glad this resonated with you. Your marketing USP and your niche has everything to do with what’s unique about you and knowing yourself. Blessings to you in your exploration.

  47. This video made me realize I should buy more stuff from you. Interesting, that’s exactly what you’re talking about.

    1. Perry,

I like most what you say about the price of education.

If an average MBA costs $100k+, then a street smart
education in direct marketing SHOULD cost $50k minimum
and take at least a year to get a foothold!

What you said makes a lot of sense – thanks Perry.

    2. Well said Perry. I am building my Business network up with real people in it who Collaborate and are willing to share knowledge and business experience. All of us have learned the importance of mutual support structures.

Launched in 2008 we have grown slowly by word of mouth with hand picked like minded individuals who recognize that the knowledge power we are gathering will benefit us all in the future.

My plan is to grow this Globally and help people realize that working together and not selling to each other will provide better results in the longterm.

We are not like other existing Organisations as we seek to help each other without the expectant financial reward. Don’t get me wrong the rewards do come to us. I know you understand where I am coming from on this. Long term gain for short term pain.

Some people don’t get it – they come to our meetings in the hope of getting a immediate sale or a quick buck – they are so blinkered!

What we are doing is learning fast how to “move at the speed of change” and making sure that in our individual areas of expertise that we are progressing and keeping up with what is an evolving digital business model. It is revolutionary!

I share the same views you have expressed about Dictatorships and I know the World will be unrecognizable within the next Ten Years.

It is as you said a worthwhile investment to feed from those who understand how the digital age works and how important the new Social Media business can work for you. It is an Art and it needs investment of time and money. In short we are the publishers all of us and the world will be what we make it – what a thought.

I wish you continued success. Cheers!
