What you’re about to hear makes me blush. But it’s worth sharing anyway.

Makes me blush for two reasons:

1) Joshua Boswell describes me like I’ve achieved sainthood or something. I have not. But…. OK, I’m flattered. Boswell, I hope to live up to your glowing description.

2) We had one zinger of a conversation. I got naked with Joshua. You will want to hear this.

Here’s what happened:

Joshua joined my team for a year. Calls me up some months after he left. He’s doing a series of success interviews and I’m his first candidate. Would I take my shoes off and get super real?

“Sure, Joshua, no problem. Whatever you wanna rap about.”

We roll tape. Is this guy prepared or what? He’s posing risky questions and man does our conversation take some twists and turns. We can’t stop, we wander far off the script. We get into territory I’ve barely explored with anybody.

2 hours later we’re light years away from the usual marketing banter most people are accustomed to hearing from me. Dang. That was good.

We captured some magic. Probably uncorked a secret of the universe or two.

I was so enthusiastic about what Joshua had pulled off, I immediately opened my address book. “Dude, you need to do this with….” and introduced him to a whole list of A-players I admire.

That’s how this project was born. He took it and he’s still running with it.
