I’ve worked with thousands of entrepreneurs over the last 10 years, written 2 bestselling books, had a front-row seat to hundreds of entrepreneurs who’ve built million dollar businesses. I’ve watched several build $10 million companies from zero. Seen more wipeouts than you can shake a stick at.

I’m privy to the inside of the “business opportunity” industry including infomercials, real estate, network marketing, product launches, search engine marketing, social media.

And then I also have my “take off my gladiator suit and be myself” non-business life with my neighbors and friends at church and around Chicago.

Honest truth: Every time one of my regular friends says, “I think I’m going to go online and start a business” I cringe.

I cringe because most people, even if they’re dead serious and take massive action, are still going to spend 2-3 years floundering around, listening to bad advice, stressing their families, getting their head pounded in by the school of hard knocks.

I’m not certain I’ll shortcut their misery. Hey, the LAST thing I want to do when I’m off the clock is hunt for clients. Newbies can’t usually afford my fees and most people don’t listen when the advice is free.

The entrepreneurial road is is a high, hard road. Yet I think God honors people who take those kinds of roads. I think it’s worthwhile.

This is my candid, politically incorrect, abrasive and blunt advice to my dreaming friends, especially who I’d prefer remain “regular life” buddies than become clients. So this will be Perry’s “here’s the way the world really works – take it or leave it.”

I won’t be selling anything. Just dishing out as much street smarts as I can in 3 hours.

Topics I’ll cover:

  • The kinds of business newbies pursue vs. real businesses
  • Drinking the pink koolaid – my tales of woe, and how to know when somebody’s about to rip you off
  • Selling “logical propositions” vs. selling art – the art of logic and the logic of art
  • My criteria for a good online business, and a quick sanity check for bad ones
  • A self-evaluation tool for determining what kind of business you should go into
  • A realistic view of what it costs to start a business
  • Social media fantasies vs. practical direct marketing
  • Stewardship, freedom, God, and pursuing an abundance of choices in your life
  • Asking for the check: Why most people are actually terrified of making money

The event will be recorded and will be made available to Renaissance Club members and above.
