About 10 years ago, during my “Rainmaker Alchemist” seminar, a colleague presented a business opportunity that many attendees invested in. The seminar was a success, or so it seemed.
Time passed, and neither the promised deliverables nor the financial returns materialized. Replies to our inquiries were either absent or filled with excuses. The situation escalated to a significant financial loss for me, and more importantly, my customers were adversely affected. This incident, which I detailed in a newsletter, was a profound learning experience.
The person responsible, as it turned out, was battling an opioid addiction. His story is a grim reminder of America’s opioid crisis, where prescription abuse leads to illegal drug use and, often, tragic endings. This person, unfortunately, did not survive his addiction.
This experience altered my perspective on addiction. I used to view it as a moral failing, but I’ve come to realize that addiction is a complex issue that can touch anyone. It’s not limited to substances like opioids; it can manifest in various forms, such as an obsession with work, money, or even activities like Sudoku. But perhaps the most pervasive addiction in today’s world is our dependency on smartphones.
These insights align with my philosophy of decluttering and simplifying life, principles I emphasize in my programs and writings. For instance, the “Detox, Declutter, Dominate” book and the “D3 Challenge” are designed to help individuals and businesses focus on what’s essential and discard the superfluous, embodying the 80/20 principle.
As we approach 2024, I encourage you to commit to decluttering your life. Tiffany (Jimenez) and Tiffany are currently offering great deals on programs that will aid you in this journey. Reach out to them at [email protected] for more information on these offers, valid until 7 pm ET on Friday, November 24. Remember, a single email is enough; they will follow up with you.
Seize the opportunity to simplify and improve your life and business.
Seize the day,
Perry
