"Eugene Schwartz was a Scoundrel"

2 weeks ago I did a live seminar with Drayton Bird. Drayton’s a UK advertising genius, now in his 70’s.

Drayton said: “I knew Eugene. That guy was a scoundrel? and one bloody good copywriter.”

Eugene Schwartz is legendary. He sold over 1 BILLION dollars of goods via sales letters in his lifetime.

Schwartz wrote a famous book called “Breakthrough Advertising” which was out of print for years, then resurrected by Boardroom Reports. This book is on every pro copywriter’s shelf. My colleague Lawrence Bernstein devoured that book, and used it to turn himself into a high-octane copywriter.

But he still lusted for more.

In particular, he wanted to SEE and study all those ads that Schwartz was talking about in his book.

Lawrence literally scoured 25 years of newspapers and magazines and assembled the ultimate Swipe File of Eugene Schwartz ads. He calls it “100 Money Blueprints.” People are still gleaning ideas from those ads in 2010 and cashing in – in every kind of market you can imagine.

  1. I am an affiliate marketer, often writing my own ad copy. And I recently have been introduced to the great Eugene Schwartz. And of the bit that I have read of his work or listened to his seminar, I am amazed. He was truly a master of his craft.
