Gotta get some things off my chest about what goes on in the Internet Marketing biz, education, truth-telling and the massive paradigm shift we’re experiencing right now. And what it’s going to take for you to stay on top the next 1-5-10 years:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge Sir. This helps me as newcomer in internet marketing world.
I can’t better what’s already been said, but I didn’t want to avoid commenting on such an excellent post – I agreed with almost everything, including your comments on journalists; for the most part they seemed to have stopped investigating. To understand the world we have to ignore them (with honourable exceptions). I think many of them are already feeling the heat under their collars, and have the suspicion they will soon be outdated – and outdated by ordinary people articulating valid concerns. With regard to the Middle East – until the revolutions are over we can’t see what type of regimes will remain; brute force – usually supported by outside powers – has usually triumphed over the past 50 years. I hope the people will become free and will find their own voice, even if that’s different to our own.
Excellent video. I almost missed this. Never received an email about it. Just happened to visit the site and see the headline on the home page. Would have been sorry to have missed it.
It is scary how true your comments are about North American journalism.
I’d even go deeper about the reporting regarding the Egyptian uprising. Yes, it’s certainly not about Americans versus Muslims.
But I don’t think really about dictatorship versus democracy either…
These people are protesting because their money is depreciated, jobs are unavailable, taxes are up, austerities measures are in place… they are going hungry and see no hope in the growing glboal economical mess while governments bail out big institutions and let them pay the bill/price.
I think the “democracy” spin the U.S. media/gov is putting on this is a cover up to stop suffering Americans from “getting any ideas” about protesting the approaching dollar inflation and exporting of all the manufacturing jobs plus ineffective government bailouts of Wall Street at the expense of Main Street.
The dominos are collapsing and America is coming. And the powers at be want a docile and manageable population who will not dare question how their can be such a disproportionate distribution of wealth in a truly “capitalistic” and “democratic” society (I put those in quotes not because I don’t believe in them.. just that America has neither real capitalism or democracy anymore).
Also, great story about how people take advantage of disasters like the economical crisis to exploit people. Fortunately, there are always those who are out there to truly help people.
Thanks for sharing your perspective Perry. When smart people talk, I listen. Wish you all the best.

once again the truth has been told, and I am sure some of us never wanted to hear it, in marketing as in life the right thing to do is very often the hard thing to do.
I drive a lot in the UK we have lots of traffic problems
when my GPS tells me of an upcoming delay I will often turn off to avoid the problem, trouble is everyone else turns off also causing bigger problems on the so called short cut whilst at the end of the day the short cut has taken longer and I will have driven much further than I had stayed on the original path.

Yep
Your right Perry
Educate yourself, if you want to know what is wrong and what is right in your life or business.
If you do not educate yourself, than you are going on the wrong direction.
So turn on and learn some stuff
Hi Perry
Good rant! Very true. The paradigm has shifted. (Joel Barker would be so proud)
I learned from both you and Howie in about 2003/4 – back when you had a great paper newsletter, which was great! I was dropping by your site to see what had changed. I am glad I did.
Yes there are new ‘guru’ popping up weekly it seems.
Cheers
Graeme
Great video. you’re one of the few “Gurus” that I bought stuff from that actually made me money :) Keep up the good work.
You did the work – a pat on the back for you too.
Unable to view any video’s, slow
dialup. Possible for you to put
a texted script also. Anybody else
have this problem.
Thank you,Perry, this is good stuff. We have always put an incredibly high value on telling the truth in our business and it’s sometimes been pretty depressing to see how many people try to build a business on the back of the ‘magic bullet’.
Sure, teaching people how to think can be tough, but it’s brilliantly rewarding.
I love, too, what you have to say about spending on education. We – that’s my wife and I – have spent a LOT on our business education over the last few years and traveled thousands of miles to get it. And then I hear business owners say, ‘Oh, it’s too far to travel.'(they’re talking about 30 miles) ‘I haven’t got the time.’ If yo haven’t got time to learn, what the hell have you got time for?
I’m not sure, you know, that everyone gets it. (What a surprise!) The world is changing SO fast that those who dally will surely die.
Rant over. Keep up the good work. Oh, one last thing. The legacy is all. See you soon.
It always comes down to Honesty and Integrity and Like Dr.john Maxwell said in his daily video,
“You have to do today what you want people to say about when your gone.” Don
Hi Perry,
Last time I checked, “guru” meant “teacher”. Don’t think any part of the definition included the term, “exploiter”.
Thanks for being a guru that watches our “back!”
Thanks for the great video. And your last bit on legacy I think becomes more and more important as the internet community moves away from selling ‘stuff’ to actually helping other people.
Excited to see what the next 10 years has in store.
Spot on Mr Marshall! I especially like the bit where you say that the media are only out ot get “eyeballs” to their coverage. I totally agree. The author Mark Twain once said “if you don’t read the newspapers then you’re uninformed, and if you do read the newspapers then you’re misinfromed”
Many thanks Perry, for a memorable and thought provoking post. I have been trying to “make it” in the online marketing business for about 3 years now, spending way too much money, and being taken in by countless “gurus”. Your thoughts about the money spent being for an education is certainly right on the mark, and I have accepted that; now if I spend money, it has to be on a tried an tested source. I have realized that the “gurus” and “experts” should really be just mentors, like yourself, and NOT marketers in their own right. Naturally the experience they have in marketing (and selling) is a prerequisite to becoming a mentor, but then it should end, and the mentor should, like you have done, concentrate on leaving behind a legacy, and not making millions of dollars! Thanks for all your input – I know I love it, and it gives me a much-needed boost when things are not working. Keep up the good work,
Regards
John Mac
That’s why I love you Perry.
But let’s hold off on what’s going on in the Middle East.
It may not be the great push for freedom everyone is waving.
Loved listening to what you had to say. I am sure we can all relate to it. At the end of the day what’s it all about? Helping people or not? You mentioned the dictators …. they are getting their just desserts for oppressive rule and as you mentioned the internet and other scammers in time will get their just desserts too.
Hello Perry,
Thank you for your timely message. I am into the travel industry and I do not pretend to know much about Internet Marketing per se. I leave the teaching to guys like you.
I liked your comment regarding the quality of journalism. We have an excellent French newspaper in Quebec called Le Devoir and that’s about it. I was quite disappointed to realize that at 57 years old, I only learned yesterday the existence of people like Dr. John Lennox and Dr. Ravi Zacharias. The medias talk abundantly about David Suzuki and Stephen Hawking but not very often about truths that are less popular.
Hi Perry
You made some excellent points, especially about social media. It is interesting that in Libya even as I write people are dying on the streets at the hands of the regime but the very first thing the regime did to try and suppress popular protest was to close down the internet and then ban all foreign journalists.
I can understand your contempt for so much that passes as journalism these days, either print or video media, but there are still knowledgeable and ethical journos out there who try to tell it as it is.
How about this for an idea. Perhaps the thing for them is to go independent and run their own news blog/website. If they can monetize it (hate that word) they could then be in a position to employ their own support staff rather than have to rely on the tainted resources of the media barons.
Thanks Perry
Thanks for the wake-up call Perry.
Sadly what you say about education and truth-telling is just starting to snowball where I’m from, as it was a few years ago in more developed countries.
Just want to take the opportunity to say your products that I’ve purchased is one of the best by far – I have seen monetary results.
I’ve unsubscribed to so many gurus, and only have 4 left that I trust. You’re on top of the list.
Thanks again.
Couldn’t agree more, Perry. It’s about time someone said it as it is.
Someone in a post above said their progress in internet marketing has been slow and eratic, better that way then succumbing to all these morons with their stupid offers and boring subject lines in their emails!
By the way the Biblical scripture you were referring to was James 3:1, I believe
