On Saturday August 4 at Dream Chicago I’m giving a 3 hour mini-seminar. It’s a talk I’ve never had a chance to give before: “What I really want say to my artist and technician friends who dream of starting a business.”
It’s an advanced seminar for beginners. AKA “How to bypass your first 2 years of pain, suffering and misery in a startup.”
It is going to be extra unusual because half the audience will indeed be beginners. In contrast with most “Planet Perry” folks, who have endured not one, but TWO major failure cycles prior to what they’re doing now. (John Paul Mendocha figured this out from talking to people at one of my seminars.)
Most of my ‘tribe’ already bought the snake oil, drank the pink koolaid, tempted their spouse to bail, emptied their bank account, went ’round the merry-go-round not once but twice. They’re done with the “SHOULD BE” world and are finally ready to deal with the “IS” world instead.
That’s why they like to listen to me. Cuz I don’t sugar coat reality.
That’s a long way from the “I have a dream” guy who’s just starting out, right?
At Dream Chicago I’ll bridge those two worlds. No matter where you are in your journey, you’re going to go home with something that helps you dodge the land mine. You’ll go home with new tools that narrow your focus and capitalize on your best talents.
