Joshua's Epiphany

PerryMarketing Blog2 Comments

There are seasons of life when ideas swirl around in your head aimlessly and you grope for answers.

And there are moments in life when puzzle pieces suddenly snap into place and you have instants of total clarity.

Joshua Boswell tells one such story in an MP3 interview – he came to an event and suddenly in a single moment everything just came together in perfect clarity.

Have you had those moments? I know I have. J.K. Rowling has described how the entire plot for the Harry Potter series came to her in the same way, almost entirely at once. I guess that’s why “epiphany” is one of my favorite words. Because when you have one, it’s unforgettable and it can change everything.

The Skeptical and the Hopeful

There are two kinds of people in your audience you need to especially consider when you write copy and collect testimonials.

1) The Skeptic. The guy who ain’t going to believe a thing unless he actually walks on the water for himself.

2) The Hopeful. The guy who is yearning so badly for a solution to his ugly, horrible, desperate problem that he’s hungry and thirsty for salvation in any form.

How to make money with Google AdWords

Got his note from a frustrated customer this morning:

Perry:

I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on all kind of products that supposed to show how to make money with Google Adwords. I have followed thru on all the products, but in the end, they all did the same, nothing.

My family lost our beautiful daughter very suddenly and unexpected. She was only 31 years young. Since her loss, I have been trying to make a living with Google Adwords, but with no luck.

I have about come to the conclusion that the only ones who are making money are the ones selling these plans.

Since our daughter’s death, I have been trying to use Google Adwords to make money so I can find more time to spend with my family. Can you make any suggestions as to what I can do to get started making money with Adwords?

Sam

Selling the Impossible Proposition

A couple of years ago I sent my top customers and affiliates a Christmas gift. It was Caroline Alexander’s beautiful book “The Endurance” which chronicles Earnest Shackleton’s treacherous journey to the South Pole and back, in 1914.

It may literally be the world’s greatest adventure story. He and 27 men sailed to Antarctica with a team of dogs and plenty of supplies with plans to travel all the way across the continent in the summer.

Taking "Marketing on Autopilot" to a whole new level

Finn Peacock of Australia is one of the graduates of my personal AdWords coaching “Bobsled Run.” He’s an engineer turned entrepreneur, who started out selling a highly technical e-book on a very specialized topic. (“PID Loop Tuning” in case you’re wondering.)

After polishing his marketing campaigns he exceeded his income as an engineer, and essentially saturated his tiny market.

All of this is completely automated with Google ads, to the point where he’s barely touched that business in 2 months. It runs on autopilot.

The Marketing on Autopilot Luxury… oops, I meant Necessity

I was a desperately struggling sales rep in 1997 and I drove to Peoria Illinois for a big “Success” event with speakers like Norman Schwarzkopf and Zig Ziglar. I first encountered Dan Kennedy there. Dan was the last speaker of the day and he talked about replacing cold-calling grunt work with cost-effective advertising and marketing.

Since I was spending most of every day pounding the phone, this news was oxygen to a drowning man. I was mesmerized. I found a credit card that still had some room on it and bought his Magnetic Marketing System.

It changed my life.

Fast forward one year: I’ve found a new job where they’ll actually let me use some of Dan’s ideas (the previous boss thought I’d bought swampland in Florida, and told me to get back to work) and the new marketing techniques were working. I was getting sales leads for my industrial hardware and software products from our website every day.
