With the economy the way it is, fear and desperation are rampant. The get-rich-quick biz-op guys are out in droves. My buddy Sean D’Souza from New Zealand wrote a great blog post about the role they have in sorting the winners from the losers.
(And this reminds me that even the wolverine, the most vicious animal in the forest, has his part to play in the ecosystem.)

Enjoy Sean’s thoughts today.

P.S.: My sister, who’s a commercial real estate agent in Nebraska, commented today on how unbelievably better the market is than it was 1 year ago. A sign of where things are going, perhaps.

These ‘Get Rich Quick’ schemes are kind of a ‘rite of passage’ aren’t they? Most of us have fallen for them early in our IM career.
Overcoming the lure of them is the first step to success. The realisation that you actually have to work at this business just like any other.
It’s depressing that so many so-called gurus peddle this Get Rich Quick stuff on the back of an extremely enticing lie but, as that article points out, maybe they serve a purpose.
All kudos to those ‘gurus’ who tell it like it is though – they could probably be making a fortune if they just sold the lie like everyone else.
thanks for posting that link perry. it was a fun read and wouldn’t have found it without you. thanks again!
Nice Post.
I can relate to what Sean said. I went through a similar life journey/experience.
In my case, I worked my but off and did make money but… I realized that even if you work hard on those things, you’ll always keep working just as hard, NEVER own the business & if you burn out or stop, so does the money!
The lesson I learned was: Do your own thing & keep trying.
My best to all,
Guy
That was a fun read… thanks for pointing me in that direction.
