Yesterday I took a some clients to an improv show in Chicago. They asked the guy to act out “Pole Vaulting.” But before he could come out on stage, the emcee took suggestions from the audience:
Generation 140
We’ve had the Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and now Generation Z.
The next generation is: Generation 140.
The "Moral Argument" for ninja-level marketing
Is there a little part of you that thinks of marketing as “slimy”?
After today you’ll probably do a 180 on that one. Here’s why.
David Szetela on Google's Display Network
In checkers, you win by jumping over your opponent, and the whole thing is pretty one-dimensional.
Chess is a whole new world. You can strike your opponent from 14 different directions. The rabbit hole is endless.
The difference between search and display is a lot like that. You’ve only got so many strategies you can employ in search, but display is super-multi-dimensional.
Let me explain what I mean. On display, you can target based on:
My First Heckler
At the Sunday morning of my first-ever seminar in 2006, I gave an optional spiritual talk. (I’ve made a practice of this since. I’ve found lot of people appreciate these talks.)
The day before, I told everyone…
Do you have a dream? Let’s talk about it. Saturday LIVE in Chicago
Q: When do you absolutely know for sure that your dream is real?
The 2 Year Business Startup Shortcut: LIVE Chicago Saturday August 4
On Saturday August 4 at Dream Chicago I’m giving a 3 hour mini-seminar. It’s a talk I’ve never had a chance to give before: “What I really want say to my artist and technician friends who dream of starting a business.”
It’s an advanced seminar for beginners. AKA “How to bypass your first 2 years of pain, suffering and misery in a startup.”
It is going to be extra unusual because….
Last Christmas, I came home from China with a new kid.
The day we left for China, our neighbor snapped a picture of us all eating breakfast. I titled it “Our last meal as a family of six.” Kinda weird, knowing you’re gonna leave and come home with an extra kid, huh?
From the day we arrived from China to the beginning of the New Year was a very strange, surreal time.
Marketing DNA for Consultants Sept 21-23 LIVE in Chicago
Let’s say you become a Pay Per Click consultant. If you obey industry norms, you charge them 15% of their spend.
That’s sort of like becoming a Registered Nurse. Now you’re entitled to buy soft squishy shoes, be on your feet all day and make $53,000 per year.
How about copywriters?
Sometimes, business success is about bigger things than business.
Thanks to what I’ve learned from you and Perry, we’ve been able to do just that. Our first stop this summer was Boston, where he was able to get scoped by one of the world’s leading pediatric gastroenterologists, and now we’re down in Florida doing IV treatments at a cost of more than $1K per week.
Even if we had health insurance in this country (which we don’t), they deny coverage for these sorts of treatments as a matter of course. All told, the cost of this trip is likely to exceed $20K.
