Orphan Story, Adoption Story & First Words at the Zoo

Zoe’s first word in English was “Koala.” That was exactly three years ago at the Guanzhou zoo.

Today we took our new son (“ZJ” has stuck as his new name) to the Zoo, with Zoe and Uncle Bryan and the older kids. Zoos draw out children in a special way and the Guanzhou zoo is great.

We adopted Zoe three years ago, almost to the day. In fact we will arrive home this December 18 which is the same day we got home with Zoe in 2011. How time flies.

At my most recent 4-Man Intensive, there was a guy who reminded me a lot of me…a go-getter entrepreneur with lots of hobbies, ministries, and side projects he’s passionate about.

He explained to me that if he pursues his outside passions too much, the other principals in his business, his family members, might see it as him shirking his responsibilities…they may even label it laziness.
